Srinagar: The meteorological department in Srinagar on Wednesday predicted moderate rainfall in plains and snow in upper reaches of the Valley during the next three days.
“Another spell of moderate rain with snow on higher reaches is likely to be observed from 17th to 19th of March. However, the weather is likely to improve from 20th of March,” said Sonum Lotus, Director of the MET department.
“During this period, plains of Jammu and Kashmir may also receive thunderstorm with hail. Also, there will be a decrease in the maximum and minimum temperatures by a few degrees,” he added.
Jammu and Kashmir has been witnessing heavy rainfall from the last few days after a long dry spell. The department also said there was nothing alarming as of now and people need not panic about possible flooding.
“It is too early to comment about the rising water level at this point of time. But people living alongside river beds and areas prone to landslides should remain vigilant,” the Met director said.
