JK Bank security guard shot in Srinagar


SRINAGAR: A Jammu and Kashmir bank security guard was killed in a fire incident in Hawal area of Srinagar City on Thursday afternoon.
A police official told a local news agency that two security guards were present at an ATM machine near Islamia College in Old City when a 12-bore-gun of one of the guard went off and hitting chest of another guard.
However, it is yet to be ascertained whether the guard was fired upon by his colleague or the rifle went off accidentally, the officer said.
The victim, identified as Mohammad Altaf Lala, son of Ghulam Ali, a resident of Saidpora, Eidgah, sustained serious bullet injuries and was immediately shifted to SKIMS Soura for treatment. “He later succumbed to injuries,” the officer said.
Meanwhile, police has arrested another security guard, Javid Ahmad Dar and he is being questioned.
