SRINAGAR: The state administration on Wednesday constituted a high-level committee to look into the problems related to the regularisation of casual workers.
The committee was continued on the directions of governor, N N Vohra, to look into the “financial, legal, administrative, and other problems which may relate to the regularisation of casual workers”, an official spokesman said.
The committee will work out an appropriate policy in this regard, he said.
The committee, headed by the chief secretary, comprises secretaries of the Home, Finance, General Administration, Law & Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs departments.
“The governor has directed the chief secretary to finalise the committee’s report by April 15, 2016. The governor has already directed that the process of regularisation of eligible daily-wagers and those engaged on contractual basis should be expedited and also directed that no fresh casual/seasonal labourer shall be allowed to be engaged by any department or state-owned PSU,” the spokesman said.
