Div Com inaugurates Kisan Mela at Pulwama

PULWAMA: A day long Exhibition cum Kisan Mela organised by Agriculture Department was inaugurated by Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon here on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion Dr. Samoon highlighted the pro-farmer initiative taken by government for rejuvenating agriculture and allied sectors.
The Divisional Commissioner urged farmers to take maximum benefit from such events to acquaint themselves with the latest techniques to increase production and quality. He also said that these Melas provide opportunities for unemployed youth for income generating avenues.
On the occasion, various departments including Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry, Horticulture had established stalls displaying their products.
Dr Samoon also distributed the cheques among the progressive farmers.
Later the Divisional commissioner visited the sports stadium along with the team of officer where he distributed prizes among the winning football team.
Speaking on the occasions the Divisional Commissioner highlighted the role of sports activities in maintaining sound mental and physical health of the person.
Meanwhile, the Div Com inaugurated plantation drive in the district. The Deputy Commissioner Pulwama Niraj Kumar, Additional Deputy Commissioner Shahbaz Mirza and officers of other departments besides students from different institutions were also present.
