Srinagar: The governor on Tuesday asked all doctors working in the office of J&K Resident Commissioner, New Delhi, to return to the state.
A circular was issued by the commissioner secretary Health and Medical Education, asking the doctors to resume their jobs with the Directorate of Health Service, Kashmir, and Director General ISM Jammu and Kashmir.
The doctors include medical officers Dr Monika Wani, Dr Ravinder Sumbli, Dr Rekha Jad, and Dr Sobia Nisar, ISM medical officers Dr Jyotshna Mukhiand and Dr Kanchan Hanjura, and dental surgeon Dr Farah Deeba.
“The decision has been taken in order to improve the patient-care in the hospitals. We have a dearth of doctors in district hospitals, and calling the doctors back to their respective places will help a little in improving the patient-care,” additional secretary Health and Medical Education, Ashraf Hakak, said.
Recently a court order revealed that out of 1,521 doctors, 809 were on deputation to other departments, Government Medical College, and SK Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS).
The court has directed the authorities to ensure posting of all the relieved doctors in Health department within 10 days.
