Srinagar: Day after the former chief minister Omar Abdullah questioned the pro-freedom camp’s “silence over the presence of Chinese troops in Pakistan-administered Kashmir (PaK)”, Hurriyat Conference (G) on Monday said “China is not an occupier like India” but its troops are there “under a mutual agreement”.
“Omar Abdullah’s tweet regarding the presence of Chinese Army in Azad Kashmir is half-truth, immature and meaningless. Unlike India, China has not attacked or forcibly occupied that territory but the presence of its Army there is under a mutual agreement with Pakistan. It is a part of Pak-China economic corridor process and the pro-freedom people have no reason to oppose this move,” the conglomerate said in a statement issued here.
Terming China as “a strong supporter of Kashmiris’ right of self-determination”, the conglomerate said it is “unfair to compare Chinese army with Indian cruel and oppressive occupational forces who carry out genocides of Kashmiri people since last 68 years”.
“Omar Abdullah has no moral justification to criticise the pro-freedom people as he accepts the Indian forced occupation in Kashmir and is providing a certificate to their illegal control. How can you lecture people over such things which you yourself don’t act? This is hypocrisy and cannot be termed as the way of a principled man,” the amalgam said.
Hurriyat (G) said it believes that “after attaining freedom from Indian occupation”, any difference with China related to J&K can be settled in a friendly atmosphere. “China will never do any such act which will endanger the sovereignty and integrity of Jammu and Kashmir.”
