SRINAGAR: Traffic on Jammu-Srinagar highway resumed on Saturday morning after it had been suspended due to heavy rainfall last night.
However, there were minor disruptions due to shooting stones.
Police officials said the highway was opened after the weather allowed movement of vehicles. However, they said, the heavy vehicles could only travel from Jammu towards Srinagar, while only passenger vehicles were allowed from Srinagar towards Jammu.
However, landslides and shooting stones continued to disrupt the movement of traffic, even as the men and machinery deployed at several spots toiled hard to avoid any major disruptions, the officials said.
As per the authorities, no vehicle would be allowed to move from Jammu to Srinagar after 11:30 am on Sunday. The movement of vehicles ahead of Udhampur would be restricted after 1pm, they added.
Meanwhile, Batote-Kishtwar highway was also closed due to shooting stones and landslides at several places.
