GB Panth hospital to start paediatric nephrology services from March 16

SRINAGAR: As a “step towards expanding specialty paediatric services”, G B Pant Children’s Hospital, Srinagar, is starting Paediatric Nephrology OPD services from March 16 (Wednesday) from 10 am to 2 pm.
As per the statement issued here, Dr Mohammad Ashraf, MD Paediatrics, Fellowship Paediatric Nephrology from AIIMS, New Delhi, is heading this unit of the hospital.
The hospital has started peritoneal dialysis and more than 15 patients have been treated from past two months. “A full-fledged dialysis unit is being installed in the hospital for which space has already been earmarked.”
“Moreover, Paediatric Opthalmology is operational in the hospital and various complicated procedures are being performed on children. This unit is being expanded to handle the most complicated paediatric opthalmological cases in future and these services are first of its kind in J&K,” the statement said.
It said hospital also envisages to soon have Paediatric surgeries for which a high level meeting was convened under the chairmanship of secretary HME and all the arrangements in this regard have been finalised.
Meanwhile, work on the establishment of licensed state of art blood bank along with lab and microbiology division has been completed and is being commissioned very soon.
“Steps are being taken to set up THalasemia Centre in G B Pant hospital as earlier there was only one Thalasemia centre in Jammu for the whole state.”
