Srinagar: Vodafone India launched a coffee table book titled ‘Women of Pure Wonder’ on the occasion of International Women’s Day.
The book was chronicled by Vodafone Foundation.
The book, third in a special series focusing exclusively on women empowerment, chronicles tales of 50 inspirational women from across India, who opted to take the road less travelled.
The book, as per the Spokesman of Vodafone India, was launched by Sunil Sood, MD & CEO, Vodafone India, along with guests of honour, Aruna Sundararajan, Secretary, Ministry of Steel, JS Deepak, Secretary Department of Telecommunications, Shyamala Gopinath, Chair CSR committee VIL India board.
The spokesman added that the extraordinary deeds of these women, who courageously braved all social, economic, and familial odds to emerge successful and game changer in their chosen field, are an inspiration to the women across India.
The awe-inspiring exploits of these 50 women have been categorized under three aptly named sections – Vision, Valour and Victory. From Arunima Sinha’s victory as the first woman amputee to climb Mount Everest; to Justice Leila Seth, the first woman judge of the Delhi High Court and first woman to become Chief Justice of a state High Court; to motivational speaker Kanchan Gaba, untiring blind mountaineer; to Meera Shenoy, Founder-Chairperson, Youth4Jobs, pioneer in skilling.
