Sumbal youth’s mysterious disappearance evokes protest

Sumbal: A young trader has made a distress call to his friend in north Kashmir’s Sumbal area minutes before disappearing mysteriously. The family members of the disappeared trader have expressed apprehensions over his safety.
A protest demonstration was held in Sumbal on Sunday, to urge the authorities to trace out the missing youngster.
Riyaz Ahmad Beigh son of Abdul Ahad Beigh of Wanipora Sumbal has gone missing since Friday afternoon. Beigh is a distributor with cellular company Aircel and also functions as General Secretary of Chinar Traders Association Sumbal.
Adil, a close friend of missing trader said that he received a distress call from him at 5: 30 pm on Friday. “Jana, me bachao, (Jana (adil’s nickname), save me”, Adil tod Kashmir Reader. “I tried to call back but his number went switch off”, he said.
“We filed a complaint with the local police but there is no trace of him”, Abdul Ahad Beigh, father of the missing youth told Kashmir Reader.
He said that he was with his son to offer Friday prayers at Jamia Masjid. “After nimaz, we together had lunch at home. He then left the home saying that he has a meeting with somebody”, he said.
“His phone is switched off since then. We tried umpteen times but there is no trace of him”, an aggrieved Beigh said.
On Sunday, Riyaz’s relatives, friends and fellow traders held a protest demonstration demanding his whereabouts. “SDPO Sumbal Rashid Ahamd visited the spot assuring the protesters that the missing youth will be traced soon. We are analysing call details of Riyaz Ahmad. Hopefully we will get some clue”, Ahmad said.
Meanwhile complete shutdown was observed in Sumbal,Wangipora and adjoining areas against the mysterious disappearance of the trader.
