Body found in Handwara forest

Handwara: A Mutilated body of a 16-year-old teenager was found in Machipora forests of north Kashmir’s Handwara area on Sunday afternoon. Locals said that Fayaz Ahmad Sheikh had gone to the nearby forests to fetch firewood but did not return alive from the area.
Machipora is a village five kilometres from Handwara, which has a dense forest in the neighbourhood.
Police said that Sheikh had left home quite early on Sunday morning to collect fire-wood from the nearby forest. “When he did not return till late in the afternoon, his family members registered a missing report at police station Handwara”, police said.
In the meanwhile, villagers launched a manhunt and found Sheikh’s body in the middle of jungle. “The body was badly defaced and mutiulated. It appears some wild animals have attacked and killed him”, a local told Kashmir Reader.
Police said a case under section-174 has been registered. The body has been handed over to the family after medical examination and a case has been registered for further investigation.
