JKLF demands SAR Geelani’s release

SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) staged a protest rally on Friday at Soura in Srinagar against continued detention of former Delhi University teacher Prof SAR Geelani.
Terming Geelani’s continued incarceration as ‘hypocritical approach of Indian rulers’, JKLF Vice-chairman Showkat Ahmad Bakhshi demanded his immediate release.
“Arresting people for sedition merely for standing with truth is a ploy to create an atmosphere of fear and intimidation. Prolonging detention of Professor SAR Geelani shows the hypocritical approach of Indian rulers,” Bakhshi said.
The participants in the rally chanted slogans in favour of “freedom (azaadi), martyrs of Kashmir’s resistence movement and release of Gelani and other political prisoners of Jammu and Kashmir”.
The JKLF leader said that India and its stooges have choked every little space for peaceful political activities. “Political dissent and raising voice against oppression, tyranny and torture have been banned”, he said.
Paying tributes to recently killed three Kashmiri militants at Tral in south Kashmir, the JKLF leader said that young boys are sacrificing their lives for cause of Kashmir’s freedom and we salute their sacrifices.
A battery of JKLF activists including Noor Muhammad Kalwal, Zahoor Ahmad Butt, Sheikh Khalid, Bashir Ahmad Kashmiri, Muhammad Sideeq Shah, Professor Javed, Showkat Ahmad Dar, Muhammad Maqbool Taploo, Ghulam Muhammad Dar and Muhammad Hanief were present on the occasion.
