Kunzar protests against arrests of youngsters

Baramulla: A large number of people, including women and children, of Kunzar area of district Baramulla staged a protest demonstration on Wednesday morning against the arrest of four youths by the SOG. The people took to the streets shouting slogans against the SOG, and blocked the Srinagar Gulmarg road  for hours.
They said the SOG of police, during the night, raided many areas of Kunzar and arrested at least four youths, Suhail Ahmad Wani son of Gulzar Ahmad, Ubaid Ahmad Najar son of Nazir Ahmad, Mudasir Ahmad Sheikh son of Abdul Rashid and Wasim Ahmad Dar son of Abdul Karim Dar, without any reason.
Abdul Karim Dar, a protester who is also block president of a political party, alleged that the SOG men barged into his house on Tuesday night and arrested his son Wasim Ahmad without any reason. He also alleged that SOG men beaten his brother, wife, daughter and other family members and looted Rs 80,000 from his home.
Later, a team of police headed by sub district police officer (SDPO) Tangmarg, Rameez Ahmad, reached the spot and assured the protesters that he would approach SOG officials and try for the release of youths. The protestors dispersed, but warned they would again stage a protest if their demands were not met.
