Some Baramulla schools did not reopen on March 1

BARAMULLA: While children were seen rushing to schools in colourful uniforms in northern Baramulla district on the first day after winter break, some private schools defied the government order and remained closed on Tuesday. Interestingly, the institutions that flouted the government orders are known as “influential schools”.
Sources said most of the government and private schools resumed their class work after months long winter break. However, one of the Baramulla’s famous private schools, Saint Joseph Higher Secondary School remained closed along-with Naider Field Educational Institute Sopore and Delhi Public School.
When contacted, a Committee Member of Saint Joseph School said that this school has its own calendar wherein first two days of March remain off. “We have already informed the directorate of education and Chief Education Officer, Baramulla in this regard”, he said.
“The school will resume the normal class work from Thursday”, he said.
Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Yasha Mudgal said the violators will face action on violating the government directive.
