SRINAGAR: Commissioner Srinagar Muncipal Corporation (SMC) Bashir Ahmad Khan on Tuesday toured various areas in and around the Lal Chowk.
According to a statement, Khan who was accompanied by various senior municipal officers including Joint Commissioner Adm, Joint Commissioner Works, SE drainage, Chief Sanitation Officer and others visited Dalgate, Polo View, TRC, MA Road and Radio Kashmir and other adjoining areas
While visiting these different areas, Khan has taken a strong note over a number of damaged manhole cover lids.
The matter was urgently taken up with the SE Drainage who was directed to replace these lids with the fresh manhole cover lids where ever required in the city.
Directions were also passed to prepare the DPR and finalize the entire process of the project within a month’s time so that the work for reconstruction of drain passing through Mugal Darbar to Regal Chowk that mostly remains blocked is taken up at an earliest.
He also directed the concerned officers to take up the matter with R&B and PWD officials regarding lifting of leftover material/debris after execution of different works.
The concerned contractor after the completion of work has a responsibility of lifting the leftover material/ debris and if they fail to comply with the directions, SMC in that case will lift it at the cost of the charges of contractor.
Taking a strong note of cable networking haphazardly laid on electric poles, trees and buildings, Commissioner SMC has directed concerned officials to immediately issue a notice to the cable operators in the city where in they shall be instructed to neatly align their cables on the poles and avoid sagging of cables and overlapping on the power connections.
