State VO books 2 police officials in Jammu

Jammu: Vigilance Organization (VO) Jammu on Monday booked two police officials for wrongful confinement of complainant & his family, and demanding hefty amount in exchange of their release.
In a statement issued here, VO said that on the basis of verification conducted into the allegations of wrongful confinement of complainant Gopal Singh and his family members on frivolous and stage managed charges and subsequent release after accepting the bribe of Rs 1,20,000 by SDPO and SHO Arnas. The duo revealed that two years ago on Sep, 15, the complainant was taken into custody from his residence by SHO Police Station, Arnas on so leveled allegations that the marriage of his son with Ms. Renu Devi was illegal as she was pregnant prior to her formal marriage with his son.
A case under FIR No. 4/2016 under section 5(1) (d) r/w sec 5(2) J&K PC Act Svt. 2006 Section, Section 4-A J&K (Amended) PC Act 2014 and section 120-B, 342, 347, 509 RPC has been registered in Police Station VOJ against Zubeer Mirza, DySP the then SDPO Arnas and Ranjeet Singh, the then SHO Police Station Arnas by the organization, the statement said.
