Srinagar: Chairman Democratic Freedom Party (DFP), Shabir Ahmad Shah, on Saturday thanked people for organising protest observing shutdown, saying “our struggle for freedom will continue till we achieve our goal”.
In a statement issued here, Shah, while hailing the “pro-freedom spirit” of the people, said: “The way the protests against crackdown on JNU students were organised should serve as ‘eye-opener’ for Indian authorities. The oppressive attitude of Delhi police against SAR Geelani, JNU student leader, Kanhaiya Kumar, and Kashmiri students studying outside state was biased and based on political vengeance.”
“Kashmiris, by organising protests against such highhandedness of Indian authorities, proved they stand with anybody fighting for truth and justice,” he said.
He said: “By standing united, we can achieve our goal very soon.” He also condemned the arrest spree launched by authorities across the state.
Meanwhile, Shah expressed grief over the demise of father of JamiatAhle Hadith secretary general, Dr Abdul Latief Al-Kindi, who died an accident on Thursday.
