Hurriyat (M) condemns detention of Waza, Shahid-ul-Islam

Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (M) on Saturday condemned the arrest of its senior leader, Mukhtar Ahmad Waza, who is lodged at police station, Sher Bagh, Anantnag, and house arrest of its media advisor, Advocate Shahid-ul-Islam for the past four days.
A spokesman of the conglomerate, in a statement issued here, said the “aggressive and undemocratic” tactics adopted by police and forces against the Hurriyat leadership was based on political vendetta.
“J&K has been practically turned into a police state and a policy of muzzling people’s voice through coercion and use of brutal force was being pursued in a planned manner,” he said.
