Asia Cup 2016: Kohli, Yuvraj steers India to 5-wicket win over Pakistan

Srinagar: Virat Kohli’s patient knock of 49 runs guided India to five wicket win over arch rivals Pakistan in the much awaited encounter of Asia Cup 2016 played here on Saturday.
Kohli and Yuvraj scored match winning 68 runs partnership for the fourth wicket. Yuvraj contributed unbeaten 14 runs while Dhoni as usual hit winning runs after smashing a boundary on the off-side.
Chasing a paltry total of 84, India lost both the openers – Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane- in the very first over of the match for a duck. Both the openers had answer to the Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir surprises, who ended the day with 3/18.
Interestingly, it was the first time in the T20 history that Indian openers were back in pavilion without troubling the scorers.
Following Rohit and Rahane, the third ‘R’ of Indian line-up Suresh Raina became the third victim of the Amir’s ruthless bowling.
Earlier, after being put in to bat by India, Pakistan failed to handle pressure and fell like the deck of cards after managing only 83 runs in 17.3 overs.
However, Wicket-keeper batsman Sarfraz Ahmed was the top-scorer with 25 runs for the Shahid Afridi-led side, while Khurram Manzoor, 10, was the only other batsman to enter double figures.
For India, Hardik Pandya took three for eight runs in 3.3 overs. Ravindra Jadeja accounted for two batsmen while Yuvraj Singh, Jasprit Bumrah and Ashish Nehra bagged one wicket apiece.
