BSF trooper dies in accidental fire

SRINAGAR: A BSF trooper died when the service rifle of his colleague went off accidentally at a camp in Panthachowk area on the outskirts of the city here, police said on Thursday.
Mohammad Yousuf Bhat, a resident of Shangus in south Kashmir, died when he was hit by a bullet from the rifle of his colleague at the camp of BSF’s 92 Battalion here last night, a police official said.
Bhat’s body was handed over to his next of kin after completion of legal formalities.
Police has started inquest proceedings under Section 174 (suspicious death) CrPC, he added.
