5th day: Pampore shuts to mourn killing of foreign militants

Pampore: Shutdown continues in Pampore and its adjoining areas for the fifth consecutive day Thursday over the killing of three foreign militants in an 48-hours gunfight with government forces on Monday evening at EDI building Sempora Pampore in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
All the Shops and business establishments were closed while police and CRPF were deployed in Namlabal, Kadlabal, Drangbal and Frestabal areas of Pampore to foil Hurriyat’s Pampore Chalo programme, locals told Kashmir Reader.
Hurriyat Conference (G) on Wednesday called for funeral prayers in absentia for the slain militants after Zuhar prayers today at Pampore town.
On Wednesday, the pro-freedom camp criticised the government for not allowing people to perform the last rites of slain militants in Pampore, terming it a direct interference in religious affairs.
