EDI siege enters Day 3; Locals continue protests amid gunfire

Pampore: As youth here in Pampore continue to protest against the government forces, there are reports of Army and CRPF breaking hundreds of glass window panes of residential houses in the area.
Meanwhile, scores of youth pelted stones defying Police’s advisory to stay away from the encounter site.
The youth were trying to divert the attention of forces to pave a possible way for the holed up militants in EDI building to escape, witnesses told Kashmir Reader.
Around three suspected LeT militants are engaged in a fierce gunbattle in EDI building here in Pampore since last Saturday.
Earlier on Saturday, militants fired upon a CRPF convoy near the spot killing two personnel and injuring almost a dozen others. A civilian was also killed during the crossfire.
Day 2 yesterday witnessed killing of three para commandos including two Captains of the Indian Army.
The top storey of the huge EDI building yesterday was up in flames which later doused off automatically. There were unconfirmed reports of a militant being killed, claims that have been refuted by the police.
