SRINAGAR: Chairman Democratic Freedom Party (DFP), Shabir Ahmad Shah, on Friday warned the authorities of “serious repercussions” if nocturnal raids and crackdown on Kashmiri students in New Delhi were not stopped forthwith.
“Students are our future and any kind of vengeful action against them will yield serious repercussions,” Shah said in a statement issued here, adding, if the crackdown on students was not stopped, “the protests would be the only option left for us.”
He said the government of India, under a “well thought-out plan”, was pushing the students to the wall.
“Indian rulers are suppressing every voice raised in favour of the oppressed people of Kashmir.
“The protests by the justice-loving students of Indian universities are justified. Indian rulers and media, instead of taking lessons from these students, are resorting to stubbornness and lawless approach. They want to run the educational institutes as per their wishes,” he said.
He also condemned the sedition charges against former Delhi University lecturer, SAR Geelani, and Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) student leader, Kanhaiya Kumar.
Meanwhile, a DFP spokesperson condemned continuous house arrest of Shah.
