SRINAGAR: Hurriyat Conference (G) on Friday accused the Indian media of creating an atmosphere of hate against former Delhi University lecturer SAR Geelani and students who have been arrested and charged with sedition for organising events to commemorate Afzal Guru’s death anniversary.
The pro-freedom grouping also criticized People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for “its silence” on Delhi police crackdown on Kashmiri students and the “illegal detention” of SAR Geelani.
“This is a sheer Hindu fascism and terrorism in the name of journalism. The anchor of an English news channel (Arnab Goswami) has started the trend of fanaticism and other channels are emulating him. All are seen beating drums against Muslims and Dalits of their own country,” Hurriyat (G) spokesman Ayaz Akbar said in a statement.
He said that Indian media is playing an extremely negative role by subjecting SAR Geelani and Kashmiri students to a media trial.
“This situation has completely exposed the democratic and secular claims of India,” Akbar said.
Akbar said that PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti is busy discussing her “crowning ceremony” with BJP.
“Though Mehbooba sahiba made her ways to the power corridors by wailing over the martyrs’ funerals, the real face of PDP has now been exposed. Just like National Conference, this party too has power as its goal.”
“To justify the government formation, PDP wants to befool the people by talking about the implementation of ‘Agenda for Alliance’ but everybody knows that the fascist Hindu rulers of India would never give any kind of relaxation to Kashmiris,” Akbar said.
