Pulwama: A complete shutdown was observed for the fourth consecutive day on Wednesday in parts of this south Kashmir district against the killing of three persons, including two civilians, on Sunday.
Shutdown was observed in Pampore, Kakapora, Samboora, Lelhar and Ratnipora areas of the district.
All shops, business establishments, private offices, and coaching centres in the areas remained shut.
However, life returned to normal in Pulwama town.
An engineering student, Danish Farooq of Ratnipora and Shaista Hameed, who was pursuing MA in Urdu, were killed and 13 others suffered bullet or pellet injuries after the forces opened fire on hundreds of protesters in Lelhar village in the south Kashmir district.
A local militant died during a gunfight before the protests erupted, while two others were helped in their escape by the protesters who threw stones the government forces.
While Kashmir Valley observed shutdown on the next day of the incident, Pulwama has been on a continuous shutdown since Sunday.
Meanwhile, people from various villages of the district continued to visit residences of the deceased for condolences.
