SRINAGAR: Scores of aspirants on Thursday staged a protest against Fire and Emergency services Department for allegedly failing to finalise the final selection list of firemen for which the examination was held three years ago.
The agitated aspirants said they had appeared in the exams in 2013 but the department was “deliberately” delaying the results.
“In 2013 around 95,000 candidates applied against 850 vacancies in Fire and Emergency department. After the physical and written test 14,000 candidates were shortlisted for interview, but the authorities failed to release the final selection list,” the protesters said.
The protesting candidates were sloganeering against the director general Fire and Emergency services for not come up with the results.
They appealed to the Governor of state and Director General of Fire and Emergency Services department to finalise the final selection list.
DG Fire and Emergency services department R S Sodhi said the matter pertains to the erstwhile DG and he has no knowledge about it.
“I cannot comment on it as the selection was done by previous DG,” he said.
