Kashmir: Pulwama shuts on civilian killings

Srinagar: A complete shutdown is being observed in main town Pulwama and its adjoining areas including Kakapora, Lelhar, Ratnipora and Pampore areas for the second day on Tuesday against the killing of two civilians including a young woman on Sunday.
A Lashkar-e-Toiba militant, Adil Ahmad Wagay of Banderpora, was also killed in a brief gunfight preceding the protests that helped two other militants escape on Sunday. All shops remained closed while traffic was off the roads. People thronged the houses of two slain civilians in Lelhar and Ratnipora to offer condolences to the bereaved families.
Engineering student Danish Farooq and Shaista Hameed were hit by bullets fired by government forces during a protest organised by people from several villages in Lelhar and Kakpora. Twelve other people were injured in the firing.
