SAR Geelani detained in Afzal Guru row

Srinagar: Former Delhi University lecturer SAR Geelani has been detained by Delhi Police for questioning on Monday evening in connection with an event at Press Club of India in which slogans were shouted hailing Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru.Police has booked Geelani and others for sedition.
DCP New Delhi Jatin Narwal told Kashmir Reader that Geelani was taken to Parliament police station for questioning. “Around 9pm, we took him for questioning from his residence,” he said.
Geelani was booked for sedition in connection with an event at Press Club of India, in which a group shouted slogans hailing Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru.
The development comes on the day when a group of lawyers assaulted students of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) as well as some journalists at the Patiala House court. The violence broke out in the court as JNU student union president Kanhaiya Kumar, who was arrested for sedition charges, was to be brought for a hearing.
