SRINAGAR: Pro-freedom leadership on Sunday condemned the death threat to veteran pro-freedom leader of Kashmir and Chairman, Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Geelani, by underworld don Ravi Pujari.
Underworld don Ravi Pujari on Saturday had threatened to kill Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani.
Hurriyat Conference (M) while condemning the life threat, said “this was not only criminal but also reflected the ailing mentality of Ravi Pujari”.
“In past too, the elements working for Hindu extremists groups have resorted to such cheap tactics and at times also carried physical assaults and attacks on the Kashmiri resistance leaders,” he said in a statement issued here.
A Hurriyat (M) spokesman said the responsibility of Syed Ali Geelani’s safety lies on the government, “which must take action against persons like Ravi Pujari”.
Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) spokesperson, in a statement issued here, said “it depicts the growing intolerance in India”. “If anything untoward happens with Geelani sahib, government will be solely responsible.”
Dal Khalsa said the threat call to Geelani “is handiwork of India’s dirty tricks department”. “It reflects frustration of country’s political and security establishment. No gangster could dare to harm Geelani sahib unless and until he has the tactical backing of the Indian state,” Dal Khalsa spokesman Kanwar Pal Singh said in a statement issued here.
