Srinagar: Bharatiya Janata Party said on Saturday that it will form the coalition government with PDP again and party general secretary Ram Madhav will be visiting the state next week to discuss the government formation with Mehbooba Mufti.
State BJP president Sat Sharma, however, did not comment on when the next government will be formed. He also denied media reports suggesting Madhav was scheduled to meet Mehbooba on Sunday.
Confirming that the two parties are in touch over the government formation, a senior PDP leader said on condition of anonymity, “To say that we are not in touch with the BJP is no fair. But we can’t make public the level of engagement and who is involved in these discussions.”
Madhav and former finance minister Haseeb Drabu were the architects of the Agenda for Alliance, a governance document between the two, which the PDP complains was not honoured by the BJP.
Mehbooba wants the BJP-led government at New Delhi to announce Confidence Building Measures preceding the government formation.
A senior PDP leader said the government would be formed again subject to political process such as continuation of peace process and dialogue with internal stakeholders (Hurriyat Conference).
“Return of NHPC-run power projects is one of the points in the Agenda for Alliance but we want a political package because Kashmir is a complex problem,” the PDP leader said.
