Kashmir: Geelani, Mirwaiz, Yasin call for statewide shutdown on Monday

Srinagar: The pro-freedom camp of Kashmir has called for statewide shutdown on Monday against the killing of two civilians in Pulwama on Sunday.

Chairman, Hurriyat Conference (G) Syed Ali Geelani in a statement issued here on Sunday, said that the killing of innocent civilians in Pulwama is the “worst kind of state terrorism” of India in Jammu & Kashmir.

While paying rich tributes to the Kashmiri youths who were killed by the Indian forces in Chowkibal Kupwara on Saturday and Kakpora Pulwama on Sunday, Geelani said that “our nation is indebted to these bravehearts who sacrifice their lives for our freedom.”

Geelani said that every human life is precious and important but the “rigidity and stubbornness of India is the only cause of this bloodshed in Jammu & Kashmir.”

Hurriyat Conference led by Mirwaiz and Jammu & Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) has also called for a shutdown in Kashmir on Monday against the killings.

“Complete Shutdown to be observed tomorrow (Monday) against the gruesome killing of 19-year old Danish Farooq & 22-year old Shaista Hameed by Armed 4ces (sic),” said Mirwaiz in a tweet.

JKLF Chairman Yasin Malik, while condemning the firing on civilians, said, “India is hell bent upon pushing the next generation in Kashmir to the wall and is promoting violence in Kashmir.”
