JNU sedition row: Kashmir University Student Union condemns police action on students

Srinagar: Kashmir University Students Union (KUSU) on Saturday condemned “witch hunt” launched by Indian government against the students of New Delhi’s Jawahar Lal Nehru University after they organized an event on third anniversary of Afzal Guru.

“It is yet another example of how insecure the Indian ‘collective conscience’ becomes when Kashmir Issue is raised in Kashmir or in the mainland’s of India,” said KUSU in a statement.

It said that KUSU stands in solidarity with individual groups, organisations, intellectuals and civil society members who support Kashmir’s right to self-determination.

It said the “crackdown on the right to free speech and expression of students and personalities who exercise it, is only exposing the political nature of Indian state which feels threatened by any person, organisations, groups who raise a voice of dissent against the Indian state,” it added.
