Afzal Guru Event Row: Police Issues Alert After Parody Hafiz Syed’s Tweet

Srinagar: Delhi police has, on Friday, issued an alert following a tweet from the parody account Hafeez Muhamad Saeed urging Pakistan to support JNU protesters.
“The tweet, appealing Indians ‘not to get carried away by seditious anti-national elements’ warned that the abetment of any kind of ‘anti-national activity’ is a punishable offence,” the Police said in the alert.
Earlier on Friday JNU students’ union president Kanhaiya Kumar was arrested and remanded to three-day police custody in a case of sedition and criminal conspiracy for holding an anti-national event on the campus.
Earlier, Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh had also warned of ‘strongest possible’ action against those involved in anti-India sloganeering at JNU campus, saying such activities will not be tolerated. NG/MZZ
