Trader-official meet at Uri for simplifying cross-LoC trade

BARAMULLA: District Development Commissioner Baramulla, Yasha Mudgal on Wednesday held a meeting of traders and officials from both sides of Kashmir at Kaman Bride Uri for smooth conduct of this barter trade.
The meeting that was attended by Sub-Divisional Magistrate Uri, Joint Director Industries, Custodian Trade Facilitation Centre Salamabad, and Trade Facilitation Officer Salamabad besides officials from Muzaffarabad along with Traders from Pakistan Administered Kashmir were also present during the meeting.
The meet was aimed at improving this trade through Uri with both sides comprehensively reviewing the status of the Cross-LoC trade. Various issues related with the LoC trade like over-loading, increasing number of trucks, rates of commodities also were discussed.
The issues were taken into account by the concerned officers and the traders were assured that these issues will be solved effectively.
It was given out that a total of 31567 trucks have so far carried goods from Uri to Muzaffarabad, while as 2881 trucks have carried goods from Muzaffarabad to Uri since 2008, amounting to a total export and import of about Rs. 3700 Crore.
Mudgal also visited Trade Facilitation Centre Salamabad and inspected the construction work being carried out there. She directed the concerned officials to speed up pace of the construction works.
