SRINAGAR: The government on Tuesday directed all administrative secretaries to ensure that records are properly maintained and replace to worn-out file covers.
The order has been issued after governor N N Vohra expressed serious concern over the causal practice adopted by employees in maintaining the record, additional secretary to government, Haris Handoo, said in an order issued here.
“It has been observed that files are not being submitted to the authorities in a proper manner. In certain cases, file covers are not changed even after they get worn out,” Handoo said.
Jammu and Kashmir is presently under governor’s rule from more than a month after death of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, the former chief minister who died in office on January 7.
“What has been observed that the note correspondence side of the files are generally neither page numbered nor maintained properly as prescribed in the manual of secretariat procedure,” the additional secretary said and impressed upon all the administrative secretaries to ensure Note/correspondence side of the files should be properly page- numbered; pages should be tagged in the file to prevent them from getting torn and the file covers should be changed when required.
