Srinagar: Paying tributes to Maqbool Bhat and Afzal Guru on their anniversaries, senior Hurriyat Conference (G) leaders including the heads of Islamic Political Party, Mohammad Yousuf Naqash, Tehreek-e-Mazhmat, Bilal Sidiqui and Muslim Democratic League, Hakeem Abdul Rashid, on Sunday appealed people to observe complete shutdown on February 9 and 11.
In a statement issued here, the leaders said it was due of the sacrifices of these leaders that Kashmir issue attracted international attention and generated an opinion that the resolution of Kashmir was essential for the lasting peace in South Asia.
They also appealed the human rights organisations to play their role in return of the mortal remains of Maqbool Bhat and Afzal Guru. “Denying the proper burial of the mortal remains by Indian is a grave human rights violation and is against the democratic norms.”
“Until the mortal remains of these martyrs are not returned back, Kashmiris will not let down this demand,” they said.
