SRINAGAR: Chairperson Dukhtaran-e-Millat (DeM), Syeda Aasiya Andrabi on Sunday asked the “mujahedeen” leadership to probe the frequent killings of militants and devise a strategy to minimise their loss.
“The frequency at which the mujahedeen are martyred since 2015 is a matter of concern for us. Almost every day, we see them being martyred in various areas especially in south Kashmir. 2015 has seen more suspicious killings of mujahedeen which is painful,” Aasiya said in a statement issued here.
“The mujahedeen leadership must sit to probe the frequent killings of mujahedeen and devise a strategy to stop this all before we suffer further losses,” she said.
The DeM chief said it should be investigated as to how “mujahedeen are being trapped”. “I reiterate my appeal to masses that they should keep an eye on the informers and ensure the safety of those who have sacrificed their today for our tomorrow.”
Paying tributes to slain cop-turned-militant, Syed Mufeed alias Rakib, Aasiya said his pictures suggest he was blindfolded when he was fired upon. “Though these boys achieve their cherished goal of martyrdom, our movement looses its guardians. It is unfortunate that some black sheep in the oppressed nation have sold their conscience and sell the blood of these pious souls for worldly benefits.”
“Guest mujahedeen as well as locals are highly qualified and of great potential. They sacrifice all their dreams to free the occupied nation but some black sheep have become Indian informers just for money. It will be difficult for these people to face the martyrs in the hereafter. So they should repent and restrain from doing the evil,” Andrabi said.
‘Just shutdowns won’t help, renew commitment to cause’
Asserting that just observing of the anniversaries of Maqbool Bhat and Afzal Guru (on February 11 and 9) is not enough, Syeda Aasiya Andrabi said there is a need to “introspect and renew the commitment to the cause”.
“Observing shutdowns on these days is not enough. What is needed is that whole nation, including the leadership, should introspect and observe these days as the days of renewing the commitment,” Andrabi said in a statement issued here.
“It is unfortunate that the nation seems to have not only forgotten these martyrs but their goal as well. On the anniversary days, we should register strong protests and raise voice against Indian occupation and its atrocities on the people of Jammu and Kashmir,’ she added.
Paying tributes to Maqbool Bhat and Afzal Guru, the DeM chairperson said, “Both were great martyrs who sacrificed their lives to free Jammu and Kashmir from the Indian state.”
She said February 9 and 11 episodes are those blots which have distorted the face of the “so-called biggest democracy of the world”. “Maqbool Bhat and Afzal Guru were brutally hanged because they wanted to liberate their oppressed nation of Jammu and Kashmir from the Indian occupation,” she said.
