Pak to continue support for Kashmir freedom struggle: UN envoy

Srinagar: Pakistan has said that it will continue to support the “valiant struggle of Kashmiri people” for freedom and self-determination.
Pakistan’s permanent representative to the United Nations Dr Maleeha Lodhi made these remarks at a meeting organised by the Consulate General of Pakistan in New York to mark the Kashmir Solidarity Day, which is observed every year on February 5.
Quoting Lodhi, a report said there would be no peace in South Asia without the resolution of the core dispute of Kashmir.
“Dr. Lodhi said at the same time efforts are also being made to resume the comprehensive dialogue with India for resolution of all outstanding issues, including Jammu and Kashmir,” the report said.
The ambassador to UN said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has also repeatedly called for a just settlement of the decades-old dispute in accordance with relevant UN resolutions and the wishes of the Kashmiri people, it said.
