Two shopkeepers fined for selling expired food items

BARAMULLA: Two shopkeepers were fined ten thousand rupees for selling expired food items in Kahipora village of Tangmarg in this north Kashmir district on Wednesday.
They were fined by a special market inspection team headed by Sub Divisional Magistrate Tangmarg, Shiekh Abdul Qayoom.
“There had been complaints against some bakery shops for selling expired stuff in Khaipora area,” SDM Tangmarg said.
Two shopkeepers were fined Rs 10,000 on the spot, whereas expired material was seized and destroyed by the squad, he added.
Meanwhile, on the directions of CAPD deputy director Baramulla, a market enforcement squad of the department conducted market checking in Pattan area of the district and recovered Rs 1800 as fine from various shopkeepers for selling expired material.
