SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Teachers’ Forum president, Abdul Qayoom Wani, whose abusive video on social media sparked a controversy recently, was on Wednesday transferred to a Government High School in his native village Tangmarg in north Kashmir’s Baramula district.
Last week, Wani appeared in a video in which he was abusing Director School Education, Dr Shah Faesal. The video had gone viral on social media.
According to the officials, the transfer was a result of a direction passed Secretary School Education on the instructions of governor N N Vohra.
As per the direction, deputation of all teachers, masters, and lecturers under various New Delhi-sponsored schemes was revoked.
Wani too was deputed under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan for the past few years.
Wani, however, welcomed the move.
“I am happily going to follow the orders. I hope that they are not playing any game or politics by cancelling the attachments and transferring employees,” he was quoted by a local news agency as saying.
“The sudden change in the department indicates that something is fishy behind the order. We will jointly spoil the anti-employee intentions of administration who are putting their efforts to suppress the voices of employees working in the department,” he said.
