Pro-freedom camp condoles demise

Srinagar: Pro-freedom camp on Wednesday expressed grief over the demise of Abdul Hai Khateeb, a prominent Islamic scholar and former president, Anjuman Islamiya.
Expressing grief, JKLF Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik, termed the deceased as a “social, religious and resistance personality whose demise is a loss for Kashmiri nation”.
Malik prayed for Khateeb’s heavenly abode and expressed solidarity with the bereaved family.
Chairman, Democratic Freedom Party (DFP), Shabir Ahmad Shah, said the deceased was a person full of virtuous qualities and the void created by his demise is hard to fill.
“Abdul Hai Khateeb was not only a religious and political personality but also a firebrand orator. His contribution to freedom movement, as a political leader, will always be remembered,” Shah said in a statement issued here while expressing condolence with the bereaved family.
“A delegation led by DFP Jammu president, Moulana Abdul Qayoom participated in the Khateeb’s funeral prayers. They also addressed the condolence gathering and conveyed condolence with the bereaved family on behalf of Shabir Ahmad Shah,” the statement read.
