Abdul Hai Khateeb laid to rest in Bhaderwah

Bhaderwah: Thousands of people from all walks of life on Wednesday participated in the funeral of a prominent Muslim leader, Abdul Hai Khateeb, who passed away at his residence in Bhaderwah in late Tuesday evening.
Khateeb was an active member of Plebiscite Front and was jailed several times. However, later he joined Muslim United Front and after 1987 elections was jailed again.
Hurriyat leaders, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Muhammad Altaf Shah, Muhammad Sharif Sartaj, Muhammad Iqbal Aggu, Molvi Abdul Qayoom and others attended the funeral.
On the occasion, the leaders paid glowing tributes to the deceased for his contribution to the Kashmir cause. They also condemned the activities of the members of village defense committees in Bhaderwah.
Abdul Hai Khateeb was laid to rest amid pro-freedom slogans at his ancestral graveyard.
