Jammu: The State Vigilance Commission (SVC) on Monday summoned the Director of SK International Conference Centre in connection with the allegations of covering up embezzlements and maladministration by SKICC officials.
The SVC summoned the director SKICC for clarifications regarding a report submitted by him on the cover up of the embezzlements and maladministration by the SKICC officials on next date of hearing, an SVC officer said.
The order was passed after the SVC took cognisance of a complaint lodged by SKICC Employees Union through their president in connection with alleged malpractices, mismanagement and other gross irregularities committed by General Manager (Operations), Manager (Operations), Catering officer and others.
The officials were allegedly making personal deals with some national-level companies and firms in permitting them to organise functions at SKICC, in violation of rules and norms amounting to abuse of official position, breach of trust, thereby inflicting a huge loss to the state exchequer and the SVC had sought a report from the Director in this connection, he said.
The report, along with records submitted, prima facie revealed lack of commitment and a half-hearted approach by the higher administrative authorities viz Commissioner Secretary to Government, Department of Tourism, Director Tourism Kashmir, and other concerned to unveil the omissions and commissions of their subordinates, who misused their official positions causing huge loss to SKICC and the government, officer said.
The enquiry reportedly showed that SKICC officers provided hospitality to many private individuals and groups at government’s expense on the pretext of “tourism promotion”, the official said.
