Srinagar: A day after tough talk by Mehbooba Mufti, the state BJP ‘Core Group’ members met in Jammu and later deputed a few senior leaders to New Delhi to consult party president Amit Shah on the government formation ahead of Tuesday’s meeting with governor NN Vohra.
State BJP President Sat Sharma, former deputy chief minister Nirmal Singh, MP Jugal Kishore and Shamsher Singh met Shah in Delhi on Monday evening.
It was learnt the leaders, who were joined by hawkish Jitendra Singh, a minister in prime minister’s office, have told Shah that they won’t “come under any pressure”.
After the Core Group meeting, which discussed Mehbooba’s statement, BJP leaders said there was “no concrete” demand or condition from PDP, but their party was committed to the implementation of the Agenda for Alliance and address any issues that the ally may have.
“In the past ten months, the development which has taken place was not seen in the past 60 years. Agenda for Alliance is the vision of Narendra Modi and Mufti Mohammed Sayeed to take Jammu and Kashmir forward. If you think the development was slow, then we will make sure that it is speeded up,” he said.
Asked if BJP was ready for fresh polls, Sharma said, “It would be premature to speak about the issue.”
However, other BJP leaders said the Agenda for Alliance is already in place and there “is no question of coming under any pressure”. The party feels that there is nothing left from their side and the call is to be taken by Mehbooba on continuing the roadmap laid by her late father.
