SOPORE: A woman suffering from asthma died at Sub-District Hospital Sopore, with her family alleging that she died of medical negligence.
Reports said that the patient, Afshana, wife of Bashir Ahmad, a resident of Takiyabal, Sopore, was admitted in the hospital on Saturday. She breathed her last on Sunday.
“My mother died due to the negligence of the hospital staff, as she was not treated properly by the inexperienced doctors,” Junaid Bashir, son of Afshana, told Kashmir Reader on Monday.
However, the hospital authorties refuted the allegations, terming Afshana’s death as “natural”.
“On Saturday, the patient (Afshana) was under special treatment at the hospital. Her condition was stable also but nobody can stand against the Allah’s will,” Sameer Ahmad, branch medical officer SDH Sopore, Said.
“Family’s anger is justified as a precious life is lost,” he added.
Deceased’s family members and relatives while protesting in front of the hospital tried even to vandalise the property. It was only after the police intervention the situation was brought under control, eye-witnesses said.
