Bank robbery attempt foiled in Rajouri: Police

Srinagar: Police in Rajouri district of Jammu division on Monday said they foiled a major attempt to loot a bank located in Palma village.
SSP Rajouri Rajeshwar Singh said a specific input was received about attempt to loot a bank after which a team led by SHO Rajouri Chaman Gorka laid trap around the bank premises in late night hours.
“Four thieves appeared on the scene and tried to break the locks of the bank when cops stationed around the premises nabbed one of them while other three managed to flee, by taking advantage of darkness,” he said.
A manhunt is on to nab rest of the three thieves, he added.
During questioning, the accused, who is a resident of Kotedhara village, revealed that he along with three other associates made a plot to rob the bank in Palma by either breaking open the locks or breaking the side wall, he said.
