SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir U-19 football team thrashed Nagaland Football Team by 4-0 goals in their inaugural pool match played at Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh on Saturday.
J&K team gave exhibition of aggressive game coupled with solid defence and in the 10th minute of first half took the lead when mid-fielder Shafqat put the ball in the net. The teams went into the break with a scoreline of 1-0.
In the second half J&K had pressed attacking button to make continuous advances on the Nagaland goal post from both flanks and in the 47th minute of the game Shafqat scored his second goal five minutes later Pankaj scored third goal and in the dying minutes of the game J&K scored their fourth goal when Ravi Bahadur put the ball in the net.
J&K showed strong defence to thwart any chances by Nagaland to reduce the goal deficit margin and, J&K maintained the lead till the final whistle blew.
Inj their next fixture J&K will lock horns with Tripura on 2nd February and on 5th February J&K will battle it out with host Chattisgarh.
Meanwhile,J&K U-1 6 team had left from for Delhi to take part in upcoming National Sub-Junior Football Championship starting from Ist February.
