Ganderbal: Protests erupted in Ganderbal on Monday after burglars broke into two garment shops and a hotel at Qamri Chowk in the district on Sunday night.
After the news of the theft spread in the area, scores of locals came out protesting, demanding arrest of the burglars.
Shouting slogans against the police, the protesters alleged that due to the “apathetic attitude” of police, such incidents continue to take place in the area.
“Police was not doing anything to tackle the problem even though they had assured us of nabbing the culprits,” said Ghulam Hassan Parra, president Traders Federation Ganderbal.
He demanded that police should increase its vigil to stop such occurrences in future. “The culprits in today’s heist should be put behind bars,” he said.
SHO, Ganderbal, Asif Iqbal assured the protesters that the burglars would be nabbed at the earliest.
He said that a hunt has been launched to nab the criminals.
