Srinagar: The pro-freedom camp on Saturday condemned the alleged desecration of Holy Quran in Bhaderwah, Jammu, and demanded strict punishment to the culprits.
Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani said communal forces have made the Muslims of Jammu their “prime target”, and are hurting them in every possible way.
“We assure the Muslims of Chenab Valley, Pir Panchal and Jammu that Kashmiris are always with them and they need not worry about anything,” Geelani said in a statement.
Hurriyat Conference (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq termed the alleged desecration of Quran as “a deliberate ploy to hurt the sentiments of the Kashmiri Muslims”.
“This incident of desecration of the holy Qur’an in Bhaderwah is another example of hurting the sentiments of Muslims,” Mirwaiz said.
Condemning the act, the JKLF chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik said that rulers should bear in mind that Muslims can bear anything but not the desecration of religious symbols.
Justifying the protests by Muslims in Bhaderwah against the alleged incident, the Democratic Freedom Party chairman Shabir Ahmad Shah said the religious sentiments of Muslims are being hurt “under a well planned conspiracy”.
“To respect and revere the holy book is part of our faith and any such act that violates its sanctity is intolerable,” Shah said and demanded the perpetrators of the crime be brought to book at earliest. Oppressed and oppose oppressors at any cost,” Malik said in a statement.
Stressing for unity, Malik said, “We have one Kalima which is the bond that unites us all. Our Allah is one, our Prophet (SAW) is one, our Ka’aba and Qibla is same; that is why we all should be one and united.”
Terming the life and sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) as “guide to success”, the Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) chairman Shabir Ahmad Shah said the resistance camps must follow the example of the Prophet’s (SAW) grandson “in letter and spirit”.
“Hazrat Hussain’s (RA) sacrifice is a guide for pro-freedom camps to spark a revolution against the tyranny and oppression,” Shah said in a statement.
Shah appealed the Muslims of Jammu and Kashmir to “uphold the great tradition of Shia-Sunni unity in order to foil the nefarious designs of imperialist forces”.
“By exhibiting unity among ourselves, we have to counter every challenge posed to us by the Indian occupational rule,” Shah said in a statement.
