SRINAGAR: The pro-freedom organisations in Kashmir Valley on Saturday paid tributes to Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) and the other martyrs of Karbala.
They said following the example of sacrifice set by the grandson of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) was need of the hour for the people of Kashmir.
In a press statement issued here, Hurriyat Conference (G) Chairman, Syed Ali Geelani, said the life of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) “is guidance for Muslims, particularly to those who are resisting the evil and tyrant forces.”
“In their struggle against the Indian occupation, the Kashmiri nation must take example of courage and steadfastness from Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA). They must not, in any way, vote or support the Yazidis of the time as voting means pledging and to owe allegiance to evil is prohibited in Islam,” Geelani said in a statement.
Hurriyat Conference (M) Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, said Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), by standing up for the truth and against the evil, has given a message to the entire humanity.
“For protecting the Islamic tradition, customs and education, Hazrat Imam Husain (RA) showed courage and conviction to offer sacrifice of his life in 61 Hijri along with his beloved ones, which would go on to serve as a lesson for the entire humanity until the Day of Judgment,” Mirwaiz said in a statement.
Mirwaiz was scheduled to address a religious congregation at Alam Sahab Narwara here, but the authorities placed him under house arrest.
JKLF Chairman Muhammad Yasin Malik said the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) is a lesson for all generations.
“Hussainiyat teaches us unity and oneness. It teaches us that when we are to choose between the oppressed and oppressors, we should always choose oppressed and oppose oppressors at any cost,” Malik said in a statement.
Stressing for unity, Malik said, “We have one Kalima which is the bond that unites us all. Our Allah is one, our Prophet (SAW) is one, our Ka’aba and Qibla is same; that is why we all should be one and united.”
Terming the life and sacrifice of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) as “guide to success”, the Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) chairman Shabir Ahmad Shah said the resistance camps must follow the example of the Prophet’s (SAW) grandson “in letter and spirit”.
“Hazrat Hussain’s (RA) sacrifice is a guide for pro-freedom camps to spark a revolution against the tyranny and oppression,” Shah said in a statement.
Shah appealed the Muslims of Jammu and Kashmir to “uphold the great tradition of Shia-Sunni unity in order to foil the nefarious designs of imperialist forces”.
“By exhibiting unity among ourselves, we have to counter every challenge posed to us by the Indian occupational rule,” Shah said in a statement.
